Summary
A search for the soul of bureaucracy and a reorganization at municipalities and the Swedish Tax Agency.
Description
In the summer of 2011 Kanslibyrån visited a number of municipal- and tax offices in central Sweden. By walking the hallways, browse through brochures and feel the rough fabric of the sofas in the Tax Agency we absorbed the atmosphere and embraced the everyday life of civil servants. Among paper forms, hydrograins and high desks, we searched the soul of bureaucracy.
In collaboration with Konsthall 323 we went to Eskilstuna, Norrköping, Västerås and Södertälje to see how the physical meeting between the democratic institutions and the citizens looked like. We had a mission: To loosen up the bureaucratic machinery and facilitate the progress towards a more open organization in symbiosis with both citizens and other institutions.
